An essay is presented in which author explores the difficulties in writing the biography of Johann Sebastian Bach, German composer and musician of the Baroque period. Topics discussed include difficult to resist romantic interpretations, his reluctance towards church and school musician and interest in money could be related to early experiences as an orphan or his responsibilities.
