Canned tuna goes greener.
- Authors
Burton, Adrian
- Abstract
The article reports on the move of John West Foods Ltd., considered as the largest suppliers of canned tuna in Great Britain, to stop a fishing method responsible for large amounts of bycatch. It notes that the kind of fishing approach to be abandoned is the utilization of fish aggregating devices (FADs) with purse-seine nets. According to Paul Reenan, marketing director of John West Foods Ltd., the company is committed to place sustainable fishing practices at the core of its business.
