- Title
Human-Centered Reasoning.
- Abstract
The article discusses a study, which was published in the journal "Cognitive Development," on the anthropocentric stance children assume when learning about animals. Researchers from Northwestern University and the Menominee Nation in Wisconsin teamed up to determine if the human-centered behavior was influenced by culture and belief systems. The results show that urban children exhibited human-centered patterns while rural European and Native American children did not. Menominee children also attributed life to inanimate objects like rocks and water.
