- Abstract
The article elaborates on the role of diocesan tribunals in Canon Law of the Catholic Church. The author explains that such tribunals are formed by the Judicial Vicar, and that the bishop of a dioces can substitute their own tribunals for an inter-diocesan tribunal of first instance. The goals of this system of organization are discussed, as well as specifications over its realization as indicated by canon 1673. Role of various court figures are examined, including the president, auditor, and promoter of justice.
