- Abstract
The article discusses how practitioners and advocates in America can ensure that private prisons provide cost-effective services of sufficient quality when they contract to incarcerate individuals on behalf of government entities in the U.S., focusing on the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and the GEO Group Inc. private prison firms. Transparency, oversight, and accountability are addressed in relation to the U.S. private corrections industry. American public records laws are examined.
