- Authors
WATKINS-KENNEY, SARAH
- Abstract
The article explores the history of the 18th century flagship Queen Anne's Revenge of the pirate named Blackbeard. It presents the findings of the historical and archaeological investigations about the privateer. The indictment for William Howard, Blackbeard's quartermaster, revealed that Queen Anne's Revenge was previously known as a French slave ship named La Concorde. The ship was grounded and was abandoned off Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina, following the defeat of Blackbeard's men in 1718.
