- Abstract
This article discusses a study which evaluated the effects of major rice herbicides on seed germination and seedling growth in Japan. The study also examined the ecological hazard of runoff of the herbicides from paddy fields. All herbicide did not reduce percent seed germination, and more than 90 percent germination was observed even four days after the initiation of treatment. For radicle elongation, however, all herbicides showed greater inhibitory effects with increasing concentration. For seedling growth at the third leaf stage, all herbicides showed greater inhibitory effects with increasing concentration.
