- Abstract
The article investigates the efficiency of statistical downscaling of geomorphological data by downscaling four different periglacial features: wind deflaction, palsa mire, earth hummock and sorted solifluction sheet, using point sampling (PSA) and direct approaches (DA). The authors used independent evaluation data to examine the predictive accuracy of the models with area under the curve (AUC) of a receiver operating characteristic plot. The PSA technique presented encouraging results while DA showed poor performance. Findings suggest that the point sampling method is an efficient way to translate geomorphological information to finer resolution.
