- Abstract
Objective To investigate the pharmacokinetics of eugenol in tilapia plasma under the optimal level of anesthesia. Methods The tilapia with body weight of (250±10) g were bathed in eugenol solution for anesthesia, after complete anesthesia, the tilapia were put into water to recovery. The plasma of tilapia collected at 0~18 h was detected by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The pharmacokinetic parameters of eugenol in plasma were calculated by DAS2.0 software. Results The results showed that the peak concentrations (Cmax) in tilapia plasma was 4.81 mg/L and the elimination half-life (t1/2β) was 2.06 h. In addition, the mean residence time (MRT0-∞) was 3.34 h and the area under the concentration-time curve (AUC0-∞) was 14.55 mg/(Lꞏh). Conclusion Eugenol has a short half-life and its elimination is relatively fast in tilapia plasma, which is the pharmacokinetic parameters fitted to two-compartment model.
