A literary criticism of the 1841 book "The Effinghams; Or Home As I Found It" by Frederick Jackson is presented. The book is reportedly a parody of the novel "Home as Found" by James Fenimore Cooper. The novel's characters are examined as well as the symbolic significance of these characters. Also analyzed are several of Cooper's books which include "Homeward Bound."
