- Abstract
Anthony Domestico's Poetry and Theology in the Modernist Period does more than simply argue that modernist poets engaged creatively with religion in an age of secularization. This book brings to light the dynamic conversation between the poets T.S. Eliot, David Jones, and W.H. Auden and such contemporary theologians as Karl Barth, Jacques Maritain, Charles Williams, and Reinhold Niebuhr. Though Domestico overstates some of his minor claims, his broader argument is compelling in its implications about the nature of modernist poetry.
