- Abstract
The article focuses on possessions of the knives and their leather sheaths by Native Americans. It mentions knife blades was not abundant in frontier areas and the finished blades that could be obtained from traders could be costly and sheaths that were used to carry the highly valued knives were often carefully made and adorned with features that made them works of art. It also mentions tacked sheaths have a folded flap or an attached leather loop for attaching to a belt.
