- Authors
Siquans, Agnethe
- Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the idea of foreignness and poverty in the biblical book of Ruth as a legal way for poor Moabite women to integrate themselves into Israeli society. According to the author the two most important topics in the Book of Ruth are the acceptance of foreigners and foreignness by Judahite society which the biblical author justifies through reference to the Torah's laws protecting the poor. Topics include an in-depth discussion of the status of Ruth in Bethlehem.
