Surface Imaging in Radiation Therapy.
- Authors
Chlebik, Alisha
- Abstract
Surface imaging is an emerging radiation therapy technique that aids in the setup of patients for treatment and acts as an intrafraction monitoring system. Although the technology offers several advantages for staff and patients, it can be challenging to put into practice. With appropriate training and implementation, radiation oncology staff can use surface imaging to improve patient care and comfort while reducing dose to the patient. This article describes surface imaging, its uses, and its applications for treating specific anatomy.
