- Title
Tissue viability raised in the House of Commons.
- Abstract
The article reports that Dai Havard, Member of Parliament (MP) for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney presented an early day motion (EDM) to the British House of Commons on the cost of wound care. According to the EDM, approximately 41200 in Great Britain are likely to develop a new pressure ulcer annually with the total coat of care estimated at between £1.4 and £2.4 billion or four per cent of the British National Health Service (NHS) expenditure. On October 19, 2005, members of Tissue Viability Nurses Association attended a parliamentary reception to talk to other members of Parliament on the importance of effective wound care and prevention in the NHS.
