Keeping that in mind, the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) preparing teachers are in a real competition. They are facing the challenge of submitting even better quality preparation, adapting their educational programs to the changing conditions and creating prerequisites for active adaptation of newly appointed teachers to the profession and motivation for a long term practice. In this article the results from a research concerning the state of higher education in Pedagogy are presented in the aspect of teachers’ preparation for Preschool and school education. The research covers four problematic areas: scope and content of educational programs for teachers’ training (in Educational - qualification degree (EQD) - Bachelor and Master); the status of pedagogical fields in the National Ranking System and pedagogical fields presentation according to different criteria during different periods; status of students from pedagogical fields according to different criteria during different periods; Universities’ policies regarding pedagogical fields. The analysis of the results gives information about the quality of future students’ education as well as brings attention to some serious omissions and ways for overcoming them.
