- Abstract
A recent article in the British Journal of Dermatology discusses the challenges of caring for babies born with epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a rare and difficult condition. While advancements in therapy offer hope for those with EB, these interventions are often only available in specialized centers, leaving healthcare professionals in general hospitals struggling to provide optimal care for neonates. The article highlights a new clinical practice guideline developed by DEBRA International, a charity that supports people with EB, which focuses on medical issues such as wound management, pain, sepsis, and nutrition. The guideline also emphasizes the importance of emotional support and education for families affected by EB.
