- Title
A new index of severe reflux esophagitis: what does the minimum LES pressure represent?

- Abstract
This article focuses on a new index of severe reflux esophagitis. This article reports that the minimum pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) measured by the rapid pull-through method is an index of severe reflux esophagitis. They found that a minimum LES pressure of less than 14mmHg by the rapid pull-through method showed a high sensitivity and specificity for severe esophagitis. The value of 14mmHg could be reasonable because measurement of LES pressure with the rapid pull-though method gives slightly higher values than the stationary pull-though method or measurement with a Dent sleeve.
