Abstract
The article focuses on the proposed African Capacity for Immediate Response (AICRC) rapid-deployment emergency force of the African Union as of July 2013. Troops have been pledged by Uganda, South Africa and Ethiopia to the interim force. Topics discussed include challenges facing the deployment of troops, lack of airlift capabilities, and frequent conflicts in the region.
