- Abstract
This article summarizes reflections on the Brazilian talk show from analyzing the perspective established by MTV Brazil with its "Gordo a Go-Go" show, aired from 2000 to 2005, and its way of reproducing the genre. The methodological challenge was to carry out an analysis that considers the articulation of the materiality of programs, their contexts and discourses found in the press in order to find definitions and frictions that could facilitate our understanding of the history of the Brazilian talk show. Based on the premise that television genre is a cultural construct that consists from an ongoing process of continuity and discontinuity, the study demonstrated how genre trait disruptions are dimensions of the search for conventions.
