A review essay of the book "The Death and Life of the American School System: How Testing and Choice are Undermining Education," by Diane Ravitch is presented. It examines changes in her views on school reform and educational policy. Aspects of school reform discussed include testing, accountability, and opposition to teacher unions. The U.S. No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act is also considered.
