- Abstract
The article discusses enforcement actions related to U.S. federal privacy law as of December 2018. Topics include enforcement by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) under the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Act regarding consumer privacy, the enforcement of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) in relation to the notion of an Internet of Things (IoT), and the relation of the U.S. Supreme Court case Carpenter v. United States to the U.S. Stored Communications Act (SCA) and privacy rights under the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
