- Title
The Problem of Evolving a Genetic Code.
- Authors
Woese, Carl R.
- Abstract
The article reports on the study regarding the problems of evolving a genetic code conducted by scientists in the U.S. It notes that their precedents in viewing the genetic code's evolution derive from their knowledge of the evolution they have studied such as evolution involving multicellular organisms. It further notes the great complexity and precision of the translation process demands that it evolved in many and varied stages. According to the article, translation accuracy cannot exist without particular components of the machine whose functions require accurate translation in order to evolve.
