- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented of the book "Gulliver's Travels," by Jonathan Swift. Particular focus is given to the depiction of the philosophical concept of the good life within the book, including in regard to the main character Lemuel Gulliver's encounters with the fictitious characters the Houyhnhnms. An overview of Gulliver's attempts to maintain happiness throughout the book is provided. The article references the professor Lauren Berlant to examine the element of fantasy in the book.
