- Abstract
The article highlights the research and development at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) wherein the application of wear-resistant hardfacing alloy materials for power generation using powder metallurgy and hot isostatic pressing technology (PM/HIP) is being studied. The proposed solutions to eliminate cobalt from hardfaced components and for the delamination hardfacing of materials are discussed. Emphasis is given on the need for advanced methods to understand wear mechanisms.
