- Abstract
The article focuses on a multijurisdictional survey of U.S. cases that involved the separation of wheels from a vehicle on the road due to mechanical failure or other defects. It discusses the Salter v. Westra case of Alabama in which wheels separated from a truck, hitting a construction worker, the Carrillor v. Boise Tire Co. case of Idaho related to death due to the rear wheel separation, and the Beier v. International Harvester Co. of Minnesota related to negligence in tightening lug bolts.
