- Abstract
The article discusses the Academic Content Standards as the social studies curriculum used in the third grade students in Hamilton City School District in Ohio which is based on the study of the local community and how it changes over time. It highlights aspects of the curriculum which provides familiarity and close proximity of the subject matter and direct interactions with experts, field experiences and family connections but have limited available resources in appropriate grade level. A table is presented that shows the academic content standards in 2003 and the 2010 revised standards along with its grade level indicators and content statements.
