Abstract
The article focuses on philosopher Rabbi Judah Loew's great-grandson Shneur Zalman, founder of Chabad movement, Hasidism's Lubavitch branch. It says that Zalman is not only known for his leadership in Lithunia's Hasidic movement, but also the author of "Tanya," a literary work of Hasidic philosophy and theology. It states that the fight of Zalman with the Mitnagdim, opponents of Hasidism, and Elijah ben Shlomo Zalman were legendary.
