The article discusses the representation of Black women in post-apartheid South African motion pictures. The film characters examined by the author include Yesterday in the film "Yesterday," Miriam and Pumla in the film "Tsotsi," and Mama Kunene in the film "Jerusalema." The author also discusses narrative elements and use of cinematography in "Jerusalema."
