- Abstract
The article discusses the development of culture and literature in Equatorial Guinea starting with the post-colonial period and focusing on local oral histories, legends, and epics. In referring to education and the relations between older and younger generations, the author describes the cultural conflicts between the Spanish colonial forces and local history and heritage. The author discusses writers from Equatorial Guinea, how many of them are forced to establish foreign nationalities in order to practice their art, and the resulting literary diaspora with a primary base in Spain.
