- Abstract
Students at the University of Chicago established a Popular University for Gaza on the campus, creating a makeshift camp and providing food, shelter, and medical treatment for eight days. The encampment included art and rallies, with students demanding divestment from Israeli institutions and disclosure of the university's financial infrastructure. The camp was eventually raided by university police, but the students vowed to continue their activism. In other news, the Indian Supreme Court ruled that climate change is unconstitutional, several First Nations in Vancouver are reclaiming ancestral land for affordable housing, San Francisco tenant associations are negotiating with landlords for better conditions, the US is implementing new rules on air pollutants in communities of color, and Texas generated more solar energy than coal for the first time.
