- Abstract
This document discusses the differences in health care transition (HCT) knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors between graduate medical trainees from pediatrics-focused programs and adult-focused programs. The study found that pediatrics-focused trainees had higher HCT knowledge scores and were more likely to have attended a lecture on HCT. They also reported greater agreement with the necessity of HCT and greater comfort discussing sexual health. On the other hand, adult-focused trainees reported greater comfort with finding an adult health care provider and decision-making. The authors recommend that HCT training be included in both adult and pediatric residencies and fellowships to improve trainee competency and encourage collaboration between programs.
