- Authors
Quack, Joachim Friedrich
- Abstract
The article "Nasty curse or amicable settlement? The mystery of the wooden object ÄMUL 5512" by Joachim Friedrich Quack analyzes a wooden tablet with the inventory number ÄMUL 5512 in Leipzig. It is suspected that the tablet documents the resolution of a dispute over the burial of a person, probably within a close family circle. The tablet was found during excavations in Qau, but its exact origin is unclear. Various interpretations of the text are presented, with some researchers believing it to be a curse, while others see it as a threat formula against grave robbers. There are also discussions about the origin of the object and its possible connection to the Panopolitan region.
