BVA welcomes vote on food labelling.
- Abstract
The article reports on the appreciation by the British Veterinary Association for the vote on June 16, 2010 by the European Parliament to improve the labelling of food. The Members of European Parliament supported requirements for country of origin labeling and a proposal to identify meat from animals slaughtered without stunning as required by some religious traditions. The draft legislation, which is hailed as a win for animal welfare advocates, goes to the European Council for further discussion.
