- Abstract
The article explores the complexity of opposing narratives in José Donoso's book "El obsceno pájaro de la noche. " The novel's principal character, El Mudito, tries to distinguish between his role as narrator, but also as a simple observer. The book also demonstrates an ambivalent position between postmodernism and cultural paralysis. The article also provides detail regarding that transition of Chile's society during the late 1960s prior to Pinochet's dictatorship.
