- Authors
Blessman, Stephen Jones
- Abstract
The article offers information on the ethical legacy established by entrepreneur and philanthropist George Eastman. It says that right from an early age, Eastman was exposed to progressive social beliefs, idealism, and religiosity. His father was involved in the anti-slavery movement. As a child of a young widow, he is said to have developed sensitivity to the plight of single mothers. He started looking after his family business from a young age. He was the founder of Eastman Kodak Co. and the Eastman School of Music. The author states that Eastman had strong opinions about what was right and wrong, and he built his life and company on those principles. Eastman always said that those who do not get equal opportunities in society, have a lot to contribute to it.
