This year, 1995, marks the 75th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the ratification of the 19th Amendment. This legislation did more than give women the right to vote; it provided a cultural and political legitimacy to women from all walks of life who sought, in word and action, to move beyond the domestic realm to the public arena. In celebration of the anniversary, this issue of Image is dedicated to articles by and about women.
