- Abstract
In areas with rugged topography, a coherent and high amplitude dispersive noise is generated. To remove this signal, static corrections have been applied, getting satisfactory results for smooth topography and short offset. A method based in prediction and remotion of such unwanted waves, is presented. When the source wavelet and the shallow velocity model are known, the strata response can be reproduced and consequently removed. The method was implemented in a finiteelement algorithm, which solves the wave equation for a layered model, sampling each time interval. The results show a noticeable attenuation of the noise in the records, in both synthetic and real cases.
