- Title
Estudio antropológico de una colección de piezas dentarias indígenas de Cienfuegos, Cuba.
- Authors
Evelio RODRÍGUEZ MATAMOROS, Marcos
- Abstract
The article presents the findings of an anthropological study of teeth which were part of indigenous human remains discovered at the Loma de los Indios archaeological site in Cienfuegos, Cuba. It explains that the high degree of wear noted in these teeth is due in part to food preparation habits. In particular, the article notes that the use of stone mortars and pestles to process food resulted in the abrasion of fine stone chips into food material, which caused tooth damage when chewed.
