- Abstract
The article discusses the rising voices from the Global South that are challenging the hypocrisy of the Global North in regards to climate change. Developing countries are pushing back against wealthier nations that have historically contributed the most to greenhouse gas emissions but continue to profit from fossil fuel extraction. The Global South is paying the heaviest price for climate change and is trapped in a cycle of debt that hinders their ability to address the crisis. While there is diversity in the positions of Global South countries, there is a growing demand for climate reparations and debt cancellation. The article emphasizes the need for North-South cooperation and highlights the importance of Brazil's leadership in promoting equitable climate action.
