RETHINKING CONTINUITY FOR YOUNG CHILDREN UNDER THE IDEA.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the history of continuity for young children with disabilities under the analysis of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It informs that the pending reauthorization of IDEA is expected in 2013, which will provide an opportunity to rethink on the continuity for young children with disabilities. It analyzes attempt of the U.S. Congress to support early childhood landscape for children with and without disabilities and increase eligibility criteria for Part B, children falling between three-five years, and Part C, infants below three years. It informs about the services offered by the 619 preschool, preschool grants program, to several early childhood programs including Title I preschool, child care, and state-funded preschool.
