- Title
A DEFENSIBLE DEFENSE?: REEXAMINING CASTLE DOCTRINE STATUTES.
- Authors
LEVIN, BENJAMIN
- Abstract
This article explores the discourse surrounding the castle doctrine and examines castle doctrine statutes to determine if the castle doctrine is a viable self-defense. The castle doctrine allows a person to use deadly force to defend their home and its occupants from illegal trespassing and violent attack. The article cites the case of John White, a black man who killed Daniel Cicciaro Jr., a white man who had threatened White outside his home. White was eventually convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to serve two to four years in prison.
