The formula for successful innovation at SAS: Integrating internal and external knowledge.
- Authors
Pangarkar, Nitin
- Abstract
Many strategies have been identified to achieve the high levels of innovation that are essential to ensure optimum corporate performance. These include the formation of external alliances and internal policies to support research and development (R&D). The experiences of SAS-a leading software firm based in North Carolina that provides analytics, business intelligence, and data management products and services-show that companies can boost their innovation by adopting three interrelated policies: nurturing internal knowledge, sourcing knowledge from external parties, and combining the internal and external knowledge they procure.
