- Abstract
The article features the Building Information Modelling (BIM) software. It compares the benefits of BIM from computer-aided-design (CAD). It notes that BIM was originally developed to make perfect pieces of machinery which were accepted by the architectural industry to make drawings. It explores the atypical uses of BIM at Robert Silman Associates on three case studies which provide an overview into the successful application of integrated design and project delivery. It sites that BIM aided in solving the issue of recurring cracks in the Guggenheim Museum's facade in New York City in 2005. It notes that one of the most successful projects of Robert Silman using BIM was the Lewis Katz Building of the Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University.
