- Abstract
The article presents information on the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France, that opened on January 7, 1838, and displayed Spanish art. King Louis-Philippe of France had asked Baron Isidore Taylor to acquire maximum number of Spanish paintings to form a museum of Spanish art at the Louvre. The paintings at the museum were by Spanish artists including Jusepe de Ribera, Diego Velázquez, and Bartolomé Esteban Murillo.
