The article focuses on the teaching of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in schools. The course was developed to conceptualize, design, visually represent and analyze geographical problems. Among the areas of knowledge associated with the GIS course are basic mapping skills, urban theory, and interdependence and systems in the urban and natural environments. A discussion on the GIS Skill Developments of the course is presented.
