- Abstract
The article focuses on the 89-day, full-time strike of approximately 800 unionized library staff members of Local 391 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 391) at the Vancouver Public Library in Vancouver, British Columbia. The CUPE 391 members initiated the strike to fight for pay equity, improvement of benefits for members and their families, rights of part-time and auxiliary workers, and better job security and technological change protection. Information on how the strike has been organized and how the union was formed is discussed.
