- Abstract
The article presents a summary of historical trends in face perception research in the U.S.. Together with supporting evidence, dual cognitive model for the perception of identity and emotion expression in the face is briefly reviewed. Ecological approach that incorporates the missing pieces of face perception is offered as an addition to the study. It is suggested that social, personality, and developmental psychologists join cognitive neuroscientists in supplementing the research.
