Poor is poor and middle is middle, and never the twain shall go any higher.
Abstract
The article discusses the findings of the World Bank that the percentage of people living in absolute poverty in the developing world dropped from 47 percent in 1990 to 21 percent in 2010 and was projected to drop to 13 percent by 2015. The downturn in poverty was driven by global economic growth, not least in regions that had seen little of it before 1990, such as Africa, south and east Asia, but also eastern Europe, and Latin America.
