- Abstract
This article aims to present the rescuing of life and work from the nicolaita musician Salvador Guerrero Monge (1893-1956). The appreciation of his work and musical activity in Mexico acquires relevance nowadays because he was former student, professor and later on director of the Fine Arts Academy of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo in the beginning of its foundation. This research was by focusing on the analysis of several documents from different sources: Archive from Conservatorio de las Rosas Library, Guerrero Aguirre Family and José Alfonso Mier y Cortés Archives. As a conclusion, this research proposes that the most important composition by Salvador Guerrero Monge is his Sonata Mexicana (1928), a string quintet in three movements which contributes to the chamber music repertoire in Mexico.
